João Pedro Viegas
Self-taught saxophone player, author, lead singer and saxophonist of the groups “Ethnos”,
“Dr. Estranho Amor” and “Just Jazz Friends”. Studies of jazz since 1983, theory and instrument as  soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, bass clarinet and clarinet.

As a musician, João played in concert with Abdul Moiméme, Adam Bohman, Adriana Sá, Adrian Northover, Adriano Lopes, Adriano Orru, Afonso Castanheira, Albert Cirera, Albrecht Loops, Alessio Giulianni, Alex Cortez, Alípio Carvalho Neto, Alvaro Rosso, Andreas Fulgosi, André Gonçalves, André Holzer, Angelo Continha, Annalisa Pascal Saiu, António Caramelo, António Chaparreiro, António Gomes, António Panda Gianfratti, António Pinto, António Ramos, Antonio Valente, Armando Gonçalves Pereira, Artur Vidal, Axis Kepelski, Benoît Crauste, Benoît Moreau, Ben Stapp, Bernardo Alvarez, Bernardo Barros, Blu Simon Wasem, Bruno Parrinha, Bryan Eubanks, Cados Sanchez, Carola Ortiz Rodo, Carlo Mascolo, Carlo Mezzino, Carlos Canão, Carlos Edelmiro, Carlos Santos, Carlos “Zíngaro”, and many others.

His discography is from 1996 to 2018. As a Journalist he collaborated with All Jazz, Oro Molido Tomajazz  and Jazz.pt. He was Artistic Director of “Jazz ao Centro in 2003 and 2004.

 

Marco Scarassatti
Sound artist, improviser and composer, develops research and construction of soundsculptures and sound installations. Participated with musical pieces or performances in many festivals as ISIM Conference (EUA, 2007), Encuentro de Arte Sonoro Tsonami (Buenos Aires 2009 e 2011); Encontro de Música Improvisada de Atouguia da Baleia, o MIA (2013 e 2014), em Portugal, Nova Frequências (Rio de Janeiro,2015), Sôm (BH, 2016), Integraciones (Lima, 2016) e do Festival Tonlagen (Dresden, 2016).

Composed the original sound track to the movies: Pirapora, by Charles Bicalho, winner of the Best Experimental Short Film Award at The Americas Film Festival NY in 2014; O homem-peixe, de Clarisse Alvarenga (2017) and Torcedores, deEdison Gastaldo (2018).

Psychogeography pelo selo Nottwo do álbum Antonio Panda Gianfratti, Marco Scarassatti, Otomo Yoshihide e Paulo Hartmann (Novembro de 2018) Artist commissioned by the Kunstradio radio station in Vienna to compose the music-video Memory of the Fire(2015), and artist commissioned to create a sound installation Orixás Sonoros to the front of the Hellerau theater (2016).

He participated as an advisor at the Smetak’s inventions exhibition organized by DAAD at the DAAD galerie, also wrote texts to catalog and opened the Symposium Re-thinking Smetak with the lecture called Itinerary of Caosonance, about Walter Smetak, all these activities within the MaerzMusik Festival (Berlin, 2017). At the end of 2016 he was contemplated by the program Ibermúsica with a prize and order to compose for the Chilean group CEMLA. In 2017, during artistic residence in Chile, composed the music 4 Crónicas acerca de la ciudad y la ancestralidad: Belo Horizonte, San Pedro of Atacama, Valparaíso that released in June, 10, during the Seminario Nuevas Músicas Latinoamericanas, in Valparaiso, Chile. In 2017 he was invited to participate in Documenta 14 (documenta de Kassel – radio), with the works Rios Enclausurados and Magnum Chaos within the Brazilian radio documenta. Still in 2017, he was invited to participate in the compilation made by Rui Chaves and Paulo Dantas that presented a selection of brazilian artists.

Nicola Guazzaloca
La musica di Nicola Guazzaloca integra una varietà di influenze, operando al di fuori dei limiti di genere, prediligendo una comunicativa senza compromessi.
Parallelamente all’approfondimento del proprio linguaggio strumentale, elabora un peculiare approccio alla composizione, all’organizzazione della musica ed all’improvvisazione. Ha composto e suonato per cinema, teatro, danza e multimedia.

Nel 2007 viene riconosciuto dalla stampa specializzata tra i più talentuosi compositori emergenti in ambito jazzistico.  Ha fatto parte dell’ensemble “Fete Foreign” condotto dal contrabbassista Barre Phillips e di varie formazioni guidate dal violoncellista Tristan Honsinger, conduce i propri
progetti musicali per pianoforte solo e per ensemble.
Ha composto e suonato per cinema, teatro, danza e multimedia. Dal 2007 è insegnante della Scuola Popolare di Musica “Ivan Illich” di Bologna. Ha al suo attivo oltre una trentina di pubblicazioni.

Ha suonato in rassegne e festival internazionali in Italia, Germania, Inghilterra, Russia, Portogallo, Ungheria, Serbia, Austria, Olanda, Francia e Belgio collaborando, suonando e registrando con molti musicisti tra i quali: Tim Trevor-Briscoe, John Russell, Barre Phillips,  Satoko Fukuda, Francesco Guerri, Szilard Mezei, Gianni Mimmo, Hannah Marshall , Gabriele Di Giulio , Tristan Honsinger , Edoardo Marraffa, Silvia Bolognesi, Sabir Mateen e numerosi altri.

Ha dato concerti in numerosi festival e rassegne nazionali e internazionali.
